Giedre Dukauskaite jets to Cuba for the summer 2019 campaign from Zimmermann. The Australian fashion brand once again enlists Benny Horne for the shoot.
In the iconic city of Havana, Giedre models colourful designs for Zimmermann styled by Romy Frydman. The brunette beauty embraces polka dot, chic paisley and snakeskin prints. For beauty, Renya Xydis works on hair with makeup by Jodie Boland.
Zimmermann’s clothes have an identifiably sexed-up boho vibe even though some pieces were more impactful in this way than others. Giedre, nonetheless, looks great in all of them. Her subtle confidence combined with a bit of nostalgia makes it all a very picturesque journey to one of the most colourful places on Earth.
The strength of this campaign is not only in the clothes or the model herself but also in clever photography. Horne seems to be breaking the rules by placing the model close to the frame of almost every image. Horne knows that the location plays a huge part in evoking wanderlust in the viewer, and he seems to want to show much of it.
We love the spontaneity in these images that seem to be portraying Giedre as if she wasn’t even aware of the photographer’s presence at all. Oftentimes, she doesn’t look into the camera and that’s what seems to be pulling us closer and into this wonderfully adventurous story – there is no distance or arrogance in these images.
And, of course, the clothes work in great harmony with everything else. In fact, they add to the romance and the magic of Havana. They look wearable and comfortable and sexy and in no way out of place. They could be worn on pretty much any occasion from trotting the world to a chic dinner party.
If there is anything we would want from Zimmermann it’s to see more images taken for this campaign. We certainly can’t wait to see their next story and are curious to see on what incredible adventure the brand takes us next. Hopefully, we won’t need to wait too long.
