NATURALLY ITALIAN

Turin based Italian brand Brooksfield takes us to a virtual tour of its home. The romantic land that it is, plays a perfect host to Brookfield Spring Summer 2020 campaign. Now that most of us are in lockdown and the focus is to stay home and keep the social distance, it’s a good time to think about those Italian holiday memories that we cherish so dearly.

Holiday, a time when we leave our worries behind and embark on a journey to please our souls and feast our senses, is the focus of Brookfield’s Spring Summer 2020 collection. However, it avoids taking us to the usually busy and bustling streets of the towns and cities and takes us away from the lively neighbourhoods. We are introduced to its more quiet and peaceful corners. For it is such places that are perfect for the soul searching and finding deeper meanings within ourselves.

We find ourselves in the company of Arthur Gosse who with his Italian charm, seemingly, like Giovanni from Elizabeth Gilbert’s “Eat, pray, love” takes us to the quiet cobbled streets with no one to be seen. As we follow him we arrive the seaside, in the boat and to the open sea. With not a living soul in the background, we feel a sense of isolation which is rather therapeutic. Daniel Riera captures this mood perfectly. There is a sense of playful charm. The muted colours accentuate the whole atmosphere.

The garments

And then there are the garments! The charming wardrobe pieces that make you stand out but subtly. They don’t scream ‘hey look at me!’ but rather make people notice you and feel the weight of your presence. All the colours seem to be borrowed by nature around as well. There shades of blue from the water, the greens, the browns and the off white. Styling is not over the top but oozes of timeless elegance and carefree grace. The scarf tied loosely around the neck adds to the youthful demeanour.

These garments are not just made to make you feel and look good. Brookfield focuses on sustainable production methods, the use of organic cotton, natural colours and low impact dyeing methods which ensures that mother nature is equally happy. All the production is done locally to minimize the carbon footprint. A keen focus on craftsmanship means that each piece you buy will last you a long time.
